First, check the topic of your news item and double-check
that you have selected the most appropriate Sense site for your contribution (you cannot post an article directly to the World of Sense Portal).
If in doubt, please ask for help via the Contact Form.
Tip: It is better to paste a completed document into the submission
form than to type it all in. This is because your work will be lost if your
browser crashes or your session times out while you are working. Eeek!
-
Log in to your chosen Sense website, and from the 'On This Site' menu, select a section containing articles. You'll know when you have selected
an appropriate page as you will see a grey box containing a list of the articles with a 'New...' icon at the bottom. Click on it, and then you will see a form
similar to the one for submitting news items.
-
Please now follow the instructions in the FAQ item How
do I submit a news item?, but bear in mind the following differences:
- Document Type: You should obviously ignore the specific points about news items. Ensure that your article will always be clearly understood, no matter when it will
be read. Don't forget that you can always post a follow-up article or modify the original if new information needs to be added later.
- Category: This time, the website name will not appear in the drop-down list. Instead, you'll see a list of categories I have set up that only
relate to the Sense website you have chosen for your article. When users browse the Portal menu, they will enter the articles hierarchy and access the name of the website
before finding these subcategories.
Except for automatically adding your contribution to the Portal, you cannot post articles to other Sense sites without visiting the appropriate form on that site. Your registration details will work on all the Sense sites, so you can quickly log in anywhere you need to. If you would like your article to appear on the front page of the Portal, though, don't forget to let me know and I will set this up for you.
If you need me to add a new category for your article, please let me know via the Contact Form.
- When you get to Metadata tab, it would be a good idea to add a couple of references to the website as separate keywords as well as the ones you would normally apply for your document. For example:
world of sense, educationsense article, education article, ...and so on.
