When your diary entry is saved to the World of Sense database, the line breaks
you have inserted are not saved. This is partly to save on space, but also
because I have to re-write some of the system! If you are familiar with HTML
scripting, you can use quite a few of the formatting tags in your entry, but
please check your work after you have saved it as the system does not check
your HTML for errors!
If you are not familiar with HTML, never fear! All you need to know is this
bit here:
Creating Paragraphs
There are a couple of ways of turning a long stream of text into several paragraphs... - Method One
The 'proper' way of doing it is to put a pair of paragraph tags around the text,
i.e. <P>Lots and lots of sentences...</P><P>Some more sentences...</P>
- Method Two
If you're not used to using HTML tags, you may prefer to put in a couple of break tags to throw new lines (or carriage returns, as the typists among you may prefer to call them),
i.e. Lots and lots of sentences...<BR><BR>Some more sentences...
Of course, if you would like to know how to format your entry in any other way, please contact me and I'll help.
Tip: If you write long entries and find that the server times out, write
your entry into your preferred desktop editor and then cut and paste it into
the website editor. The time out is a security feature,
and is to do with your cookie expiring. Please see The Minstrel's cookie article
on the Privacysense website for
further information about how this works.
